Provide motor control
SCANport is a CAN based master slave protocol, which aims to provide a standard way to connect motor control products and optional peripherals together. It allows multiple (up to 6) devices to communicate with motor control products without the need to configure peripherals. Both SCANport and DPI provide two basic message types, called client/server (C/S) and producer/consumer (P/C). C/S messages are used to transfer parameters and configuration information in the background (relative to other message types). P/C messages are used for control and status information. DPI adds higher baud rates, brand specific enablement, peer-to-peer (P/P) communication, and flash programming support. The communication interface is the main way to interact with and control the driver. Client/server C/S messages run in the background (relative to other message types) for non control purposes. C/S messages are based on a 10 millisecond "ping" event, which allows peripherals to perform a single transaction (that is, one C/S transaction per peripheral in each time period). Message fragments (because the message transaction is larger than the standard CAN message with 8 data bytes) are automatically processed by the C/S operation.
The following types of messages are included: • Log in to peripherals • Read/write parameter values • Access all parameter information (limits, scaling, default values, etc.) • User set access • Fault/alarm queue access • Event notification (faults, alarms, etc.) • Access all driver classes/objects (such as devices, peripherals, parameters, etc.) Important information PowerFlex 700S only supports the DPI communication protocol.
