Procedures in this manual
The procedures in this manual should only be attempted if you are qualified and familiar with the safety procedures in solid state control equipment and publication NFPA 70E. Note: When repairing any device, do not drop any nut, bolt, washer, etc. into the device, because they may cause short circuit when energized. Note: This drive system contains ESD (electrostatic discharge) sensitive components and components. Static control precautions are required when installing, testing, or repairing this component. Failure to follow ESD control procedures may result in component damage. If you are unfamiliar with static control procedures, refer to Allen Bradley publication 8000-4.5.2, "Preventing Electrostatic Damage," or any other applicable ESD protection manual. Shielding of precharge resistor
Open the compartment door of the power structure and remove all Lexan ™ Cover the shield of the precharge resistor. Replace the precharge resistor 1. Use the meter to test the voltage on the AC line, the DC bus, and both ends of each precharge resistor. 2. Remove the wire from the resistor to be replaced. 3. Remove the mounting nuts (or screws) at the top and bottom of the resistor, and then remove the resistor from the assembly. Note: One end of some resistors may be screwed into the frame of the deployment device. For these resistors, remove the nuts from the front and unscrew the resistors from the frame. 4. Secure the new resistor to the assembly and tighten the mounting nut to 14 lb in/1.5 N-m (tighten the screw to 10 lb in/1.0 N-m). 5. Connect the wire to the new resistor and tighten to 75 lb in (8.5 N-m). Repeat steps 2 through 5 for each resistor that is to be replaced. If necessary, the precharge circuit wiring diagram can be found in publication 2364F-5.01.
