Crimp the lug to the wire according to the lug manufacturer's instructions. 5. For each terminal, use the screws/bolts supplied with the contactor to secure the lug to the appropriate terminal. Tighten the screws/bolts according to the torque requirements listed in Table 2. See Figure 1 for identification of lugs and terminals.
Torque requirements for contactor terminals Attention:
In order to maintain the UL list and CSA certification of 1370 contactors, you must use UL certified crimping tools and follow the instructions attached to the tools. Improper crimping may cause overheating, fire and/or personal injury. Note: To prevent personal injury, when the crimping tool handles are closed together, make sure that your fingers are away from the mold sleeve. Most compression tools are designed with a full stroke forcing mechanism, so it is difficult to release the handle after initial closing. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for crimping tools before operation. IMPORTANT: When tightening the screws/bolts to the correct value, ensure that all exposed wires/lugs have the correct voltage spacing in accordance with UL 508 and/or CSA 22.2 No. 14.
