Functions required by modern excitation system
The software of UNITROL 1000 has all the functions required for a modern excitation system. ABB provides three off the shelf software function packages. The LIGHT LIGHT version covers the basic functions of cost sensitive applications, which require limited software functionality. – Regulator control mode: barrier free switching between all modes – automatic voltage regulator (AVR) – excitation current regulator (FCR) – power factor regulator (PF) – reactive power regulator (VAR) – limiter: keep synchronous motor in safe and stable operation area – excitation current limiter (min/max) – PQ minimum limiter – machine current limiter – V/Hz limiter – machine voltage limiter – voltage matching BASIC version includes all functions of LIGHT in addition to the following functions: – Modbus TCP – rotating diode monitoring – VDC mode: reactive load sharing of up to 31 machines in island operation. – Dual channel/monitoring: enable dual channel operation based on self diagnosis and setpoint tracking on CAN communication. The full version covers all the functions of BASIC, except for the following functions: – Synchronization: fast and reliable built-in synchronizer. – Event recorder: up to 500 events can be stored in non-volatile memory. – Datalogger: The data log of 12 signals is automatically saved in non-volatile memory. – Real time clock: used for accurate timestamp events and data logs. Power system stabilizer (PSS) FULL software version can complement the functions of power system stabilizer. PSS conforms to IEEE 421.5-2005 2A/2B standard, which can improve the stability of generator in the highest possible operating range.
Commissioning and maintenance tools
CMT1000 is a debugging and maintenance tool of UNITROL 1000 product series. This tool is used to set all parameters and adjust PID to ensure stable operation. CMT1000 software allows extensive monitoring of the system, which helps users identify and locate problems during field commissioning. CMT1000 is connected to UNITROL 1000 through USB or Ethernet port, and Ethernet connection allows remote access of more than 100 meters. Main Window – Indicates the access mode and device information. – Parameters can only be changed in CONTROL access mode. – The LED symbol indicates that all parameters are stored in non-volatile memory. Setpoint Adjustment Window – Overview of all control modes, alarms, generator and active limiter statuses. – Application of setpoint adjustment and PID adjustment steps. Oscilloscope – 6 signals can be selected from 20 recorded channels. – The time resolution is 50 ms. – The file can be saved to PC for further investigation. Measurements – All measurements are made on one screen.
