Block operation Each circuit has its own LED indicating whether an on/off threshold voltage is present. Diagnosis__ Open circuit and short circuit diagnostics can be enabled individually or together. Each needs to add a resistor to the input device, as shown previously. The Discrete and Analog I/O Block User Manual explains how to configure these diagnostics and how to select the correct resistor for the application. Open circuit: open circuit from sensor to input terminal of tristate input. If this fault occurs, the module sets the input status in the CPU to 0. Shorted Wire: indicates short circuit to H or N. If the fault is a high short circuit, the module sets the input status of the CPU to 1, and if the fault is a low short circuit, it sets it to 0.
Warning: When the input switch is closed, a short circuit between In and N may cause high fault current. This may blow the line fuse or cause the series resistor Rs to overheat. Configuration First, you must use the Handheld Monitor Configuration Block: enter its device number (serial bus address). Enter its reference number (for IC600 and IC550 series PLCs only). Other functions can be configured using a handheld monitor or by sending a write configuration datagram from the host to the block. Note: If the block is configured offline, it must be properly grounded and a 75 ohm resistor must be installed on its Serial 1 and Serial 2 terminals. For instructions, refer to the Discrete and Analog I/O Block User Manual. The function circuit or block factory setting selects that the device number block is empty 0 to 31 (a number must be selected). The reference address block does not depend on the host CPU type.
