Additional function disable/enable DSPC171 can be disabled or enabled by using the open drain CMOS gate to drive the SYNC pin. If the SYNC pin is pulled down, DSPC171 will be disabled. The disable time depends on the external load; The internal disabling function is implemented within 2 µ s. Removing the pull down switch will enable the DSPC171. The capacitive load on the SYNC pin should be minimized to prevent the oscillator frequency from decreasing. Decoupling ripple reduces the high switching frequency of 400kHz allowing simple filtering. In order to reduce ripple, it is recommended to use 1 µ F capacitor on VOUT. Both outputs should be decoupled from pin 5. It is recommended to use 2.2 µ F capacitors on the input. Series connection DSPC171 Multiple DSPC171 isolated 2W DC/DC converters can be connected in series to provide non-standard voltage rails. This can be achieved by using the floating output provided by the current isolation of the DSPC171. Connect the positive VOUT of one DSPC171 to the negative VOUT (0V) of the other DCP. If the SYNC pins are connected together, the self synchronization function of DSPC171 will prevent the beat frequency on the voltage rail. The SYNC function of DSPC171 allows easy concatenation without external filtering, thus minimizing costs. The outputs of the dual output DSPC171 version can also be connected in series to provide twice the VOUT amplitude shown in Figure 2. For example, a dual 15V DSPC1712415D can be connected to provide a 30V rail. If the output power of one DSPC171 is insufficient, multiple DSPC171s can be connected in parallel. Similarly, the SYNC function allows easy synchronization to prevent power track beats without additional filtering costs.a
