电机为额定频率60HZ的变频电机，采用直驱方式，中间省去了增速箱等附属装置，降低了系统损耗。使用变频传动，满足转速输出要求，其输出频率范围0.5～120HZ，频率分辨率0.01HZ；提高了传动效率和控制精度。
采用DCS集中控制，起停采用现场硬接线按钮，不仅满足了设备运行的安全可靠，而且还提高了工艺流程优化调整和监控的实时性和灵活性。原料气储罐容积有限从而造成压缩机吸气压力不稳定，负荷随时间无规律波动。使用变频调速可在压缩机出口加装压力传感变送器，变频器可根据负荷变化实时调整运行转速，实现输出压力恒定的闭环控制。运行频率越低，制冷压缩机的能耗也越低，从而在满足工艺要求的条件下能实现一定的节能降耗。
化工企业生产设备繁多，经常大批量同时启动时容易造成厂内母线电压陡降，引起设备欠压跳闸。GD5000系列变频器具有优良的抗电网电压波动性能。网侧电压在+10%～-15%之间波动时可做到满载输出。同时具有AVR功能，能够根据母线电压的波动自动调整输出电压。网侧电压在短时间小于85%～65%额定值或大于110%～120%额定值时，高压变频器降额运行不停机，可保证压缩机持续运行。
